Inside Music 2. Music & Expressive Arts - Carter, David (Books)
Inside music presents a practical approach to developing the composing, performing and listening skills required for the GCSE examination. It is clearly laid out and easy to use. Each project lists the required resources, gives starting points for listening, performing and composing activities, and follow-up suggestions entitled 'Which Way Next?' A pupil self-assessment chart is included at the end. 'Music and Expressive Arts' explores the relationships of music to other arts and encourages pupils to take a holistic approach to composition, performance and listening to music. How does music affect the other arts and vice versa? How can these influences be applied to pupils' own work? Projects 1-8 focus on the music in relation to visual arts and their impact upon one another. Projects 9-15 look at music set to words and the various artistic interpretations that can be imposed on both words and music; while projects 16-18 examine the role of music among the other performing arts.
